The Institute for Work & Health (IWH) partnered with OCS to scientifically address the question of a union safety effect in Ontario’s unionized ICI construction industry. This ground-breaking, independent research is based on WSIB data from 45,000 companies and 1.5 million workers and concludes that the unionized construction industry is 23% safer (in terms of injuries requiring time off work) than non-union contractors. This peer-reviewed research study was published by the Journal of Environment and Occupation Health in September 2015.  To read the full report on the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine website CLICK HERE
